Welcome to the Official Website of the Chicopee-Aldenville
American Legion Baseball Program

As we gear up for the 2014 we would be remiss if we did not recognize one of the most beloved member of the Aldenville Post 337 baseball family.  Harold "Chief" Voelker passed away July 4, 2013 in his "Hometown" of Mooresville, NC.  "Chief" was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and served as Chief of Police at the Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee.  In addition to his long military service Chief volunteered his time as the team manager for the Aldenville American Legion Post 337 baseball program.  As different head coaches guided the various teams through the 1980's and 1990's, the one constant to the program was "Chief" Voelker.  Throughout the years, Aldenville played in numerous Department (State) Championships and a Northeast Regional Tournament with Chief as captain of the ship.  Nothing put a smile on any of the coach's face more then watching Chief walk down that catwalk at Szot Park the very first day of spring tryouts.  It was a sad day in the spring of 2000 when Harold "Chief" Voelker decided to retire from his position of police chief and baseball manager.  Chief and his wife, Mrs Voelker, made the decision to move closer to his children and grandchildren in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Even though the Voelker family moved 765 miles away he was never far from the team.  It was not uncommon to receive a telephone call, postcard, and Christmas card.  Chief and Audrey constantly kept tabs on the baseball program via the internet and was never at a loss of words when discussing the team.  CHIEF will be dearly missed by his "BASEBALL FAMILY" here in Chicopee and we send our deepest condolences to the Voelker family
